Fun with Jungle Pets

While Cris has three parrots, his favorite seems to be Alex (pictured in placemark) because it is almost always perched on one of his shoulders. Glen and I are pretty much indifferent or terrified of the birds nowadays since they have a menacing stare, razor like claws, and sharp, pointed beaks that can easily break the skin.
We all sat down to play a game of cards amidst the hooting and yips coming from the "Parrot Room", and made do with the situation as best we could. It was incredibly cold out that night, so we ended up staying in rather than facing the snow and wind. We also had purchased a small bottle of brandy, and after a few hours had enough inebriated confidence to approach the birds. I finally built of the courage to extend my hand (albeit with a winter glove on) out to Alex, and the creature seemed delighted to slowly nibble on my fingers, wrapping a claw up against the base of my index finger and tilting his head menacingly. After a few minutes of this, I decided I'd had enough of this new-found interactivity, and we went back to mocking the birds in goofy voices and laughing at there cockneyed replies.
At the end of the night we said our goodbyes and I headed home and smugly went to bed- all too pleased with myself for a. winning several hands of cards, and b. finally facing my fears and extending my fleshy, delicious looking fingers to Alex.
